Vote 4 Timz in the 2008 MTV VMA's!!!

Hey everybody!
I recently found out that I am up for nomination for 'Video of the Year' at the 2008 MTV VMA's. I'm going up against Lil' Wayne, Britney Spears, Chris Brown and many other HUGE names in the music industry. I'm actually the only one on the list who is not signed to a major record label, so it's a pretty big accomplishment whether or not I actually make it. My video, "Iraq," has already been aired and covered by MTV, BBC, FOX News, Al Jazeera, French TV, Russian TV and many more across the world. It has also won Video of the Year at the 2007 Hollywood Film Festival and was the winner of MTVu's "The Freshmen"... so getting this VMA thing would be a nice cherry on top!
And just so everyone knows... I've got a follow up video to "Iraq" called "Do Something," which we already already shot and it should be coming out very soon. It's the first single to my upcoming album, The World is Watching. So look out for that!
If you can help.. please go to MTV.com to vote! Or click the link below to go directly to the page that I am on. Thanks!!

Uncontacted Amazonian tribe photographed

RIO DE JANEIRO (Reuters) - Amazon Indians from one of the world's last uncontacted tribes have been photographed from the air, with striking images released on Thursday showing them painted bright red and brandishing bows and arrows. These pics are unbelievable! Could you imagine dropping some of these guys in the middle of New York and seeing what their reaction would be????
The photographs of the tribe near the border between Brazil and Peru are rare evidence that such groups exist. A Brazilian official involved in the expedition said many of them are in increasing danger from illegal logging.
"What is happening in this region is a monumental crime against the natural world, the tribes, the fauna and is further testimony to the complete irrationality with which we, the 'civilized' ones, treat the world," Jose Carlos Meirelles was quoted as saying in a statement by the Survival International group.
One of the pictures, which can be seen on Survival International's Web site (http://www.survival-international.org), shows two Indian men covered in bright red pigment poised to fire arrows at the aircraft while another Indian looks on.
Another photo shows about 15 Indians near thatched huts, some of them also preparing to fire arrows at the aircraft.
"The world needs to wake up to this, and ensure that their territory is protected in accordance with international law. Otherwise, they will soon be made extinct," said Stephen Corry, the director of Survival International, which supports tribal people around the world.
Of more than 100 uncontacted tribes worldwide, more than half live in either Brazil or Peru, Survival International says. It says all are in grave danger of being forced off their land, killed and ravaged by new diseases

I'm looking forward to Nas' new project!

The tracks that have been released already are very deep and push the edge on what can be said and what can't be said on a record. I still don't know why Nas would sign to Def Jam though. Seems like he would've been well suited to go independent.... his fans would've followed him wherever he went and he wouldn't feel the pressure from label execs to conform

FOX News interview now at 100,000 plays
Hundreds of people are still watching my interview on Hannity & Colmes everyday. And now that it has reached 100,000 views, I'll take you back to the day of the interview. I still remember how I was trying to get prepared for my first live interview... on FOX News... with Sean Hannity. Everybody told me to expect the worst, and I did.
So 5 PM rolls around and I have a driver outside my house that FOX sent to pick me up. That was the start of my good night. Then I get to the studio in downtown and I look up on the TV screen... who do I see?????? CHUCK NORRIS. Man! If you could have seen how excited we were in the green room to see the Texas Ranger hosting rather than Hannity you would have laughed.
By the time I got all mic'd up and ready to go I was a bit nervous.. half of the battle was trying to understand what Chuck was talking about. Once I figured that out, I realized that Chuck didn't even know what he was talking about. So I just went with the truth, no matter how much they tried to get me to say certain things. The end result was a ton of congratulatory texts messages and like 50 interview requests with other news networks.
So as biased as people think FOX News is, they gave me a chance.... and I took it.

MJ, him Jay, fade away - PERFECT

My alma mater, The University of San Diego, shocked the country today with a win against UConn. Man I was going crazy during this game... by far the best game of the 2008 NCAA Tournament.
For those of you who don't know, USD is a small school out here in San Diego, so them even getting into the tournament was crazy, and now they beat UConn?! Forget about it! I think USD has a good chance at winning their next game too against Western Kentucky
Sweet 16 anyone?!
Al Sharpton gives it to FOX News
Man! I'm not a fan of Al Sharpton.. especially because of the way he attacks hip hop... but he shuts FOX News down in this video!
He left the lady speechless, kinda like what I did to Chuck Norris!

Chaldean Archbishop Found Dead in Iraq

Chaldean Catholic Archbishop Paul Faraj Rahho's body was found near the town of Mosul, where he and three companions were ambushed by gunmen on February 29.
The archbishop's driver and two security guards were killed in the ambush. Investigators believe the archbishop may have been shot at that time, the Nineveh deputy governor said.
Nineveh Deputy Gov. Khasro Goran, in Mosul, told CNN that the kidnappers had been in touch with the church and the relatives and wanted to be paid a ransom for the archbishop's release. The contacts ended a few days ago. Video Watch site where archbishop was kidnapped »
He said the apparent kidnappers had contacted relatives on Thursday and told them the body was in the eastern part of town. Relatives and authorities went to the location and found the body, which had gunshot wounds.
However, the Catholic news agency in Italy, SIR, quoted Msgr. Shlemon Warduni in Baghdad as saying the abductors told church authorities that "Msgr. Rahho was very ill."
"We do not know yet whether he died because of his unstable health or if he has been killed. The abductors only told us he had died," Warduni said.
It's a sad day for our people and goes to show it's not getting any better out there.

Making the Video: 'Iraq' (Part 2)

By now it's November 8th, 2006. At 4 AM 2 truck loads of people and equipment came to my house to pick me up and head out to the desert, east of San Diego. It was like a 2 hour drive, and I spent most of the drive beating Alvin in Madden on PSP. It was already hot when we arrived around 6 AM, and it just kept getting hotter as the day went on.
A lot of people think I was in front of a green screen in a cold studio somewhere, but unfortunately I wasn't. I was wearing a black hoody and jeans in the middle of the desert! That part wasn't fun. Neither was the 15 border patrol agents who rolled up on us during the middle of a take to see if we were terrorists or something. We told them we were shooting a music video and they left us alone. Luckily they didn't ask us what the song was called! Haha, I think the video would've had a different ending if they did.
We went through the song about 100 times throughout the 12 hour day. All different angles, all different locations. Ron actually made me go walking all around the sand which was pretty tough (see above), and he didn't use any of it! By mid day it was just too hot so the crew drove 20 minutes to Arizona for lunch. So when we got back we had to race against time before the sun went down. No one wanted to have to come back again to reshoot. But we got it done and by the end of the day everyone was drained... full of sand... and ready to go home.
The next day we actually did some shooting in the streets of Downtown, San Diego. Ron had a cool idea about the end of the video. I was supposed to drop the mic in the streets before I walked off. The image on the screen was supposed to transform from the desert scene to the street scene, symbolizing that the war is an issue both overseas and here at home. But it didn't make the cut for whatever reason.

Making the Video: 'Iraq' (Part 1)
To celebrate the 500,000th view of 'Iraq' on Youtube, I wanted to give everyone a behind the scenes look on the making of the video.
When we released Open for Business, me and Alvin (my manager/business partner) knew that we wanted to release a music video, we just didn't know which track it would be for. 'Iraq' was always the stand out track on the album, but it didn't fall into the traditional 'single' category. So we didn't know what to do. But after a few months of consideration, we finally decided we were going to do it.
We contacted a well known music director in our community by the name of Ron Najor to do the video. Only problem was, he wasn't into it. Ron was busy at the time on his own projects and making a video didn't really interest him. But then he heard 'Iraq' and his mindset changed. It wasn't the stereotypical rap song/video that he was expecting. He wanted to do the video, and he wanted to do it right away.
So you'd think we would start making the video right? Wrong. I changed my mind about it. I didn't think the video would get any play. I told Alvin that I didn't want to spend all that time and money making a video that would probably only get played a few times on the internet. So the video was on hold again for another couple of months. That's when Alvin and Ron decided to ignore me and schedule to shoot the video. It was on!
Part 2 coming up in a bit!

Nas and Jay-Z album?

Rumors continue to swirl about Jay-Z’s still-unconfirmed new record label, Carter Music Group. We hear that Jay is partnering with rapper Nas on an album of duets, “The Kings of Hip Hop,” to be released on the label early next year. Jay’s rep is keeping tight-lipped.
Source: NYDailyNews
This could be one of the best hip hop albums to come out if it's true. They're both some of my favorite artists to ever do it, so a whole CD by the two of them would be crazy. But I also had high expectations for that Best of Both Worlds album (no- not Bow Wow and Omarion) and that didn't quite work out as planned.
To tell you the truth, I'm still not too happy about Jay and Nas ending their beef. Well, ending the beef is cool, but I don't know if I want to see them as friends all of the sudden. It's just too hard to forget the disses they had for each other, and it makes you wonder how they forget about it... well not forget about it, but put it to the side.

Look Both Ways

I still don't know who I'm going to vote for in November. McCain or Obama/Clinton? I know what you're probably thinking, "What!? McCain!? He's a Republican! You can't vote for a Republican, Mr. Iraq."
But, that's where you're wrong. I can vote for anyone, Republican or Democrat. I don't care. It bothers me that people associate themselves with one party and follow them blindly. It is possible that the other side can be correct sometimes, ya know. Well, George Bush being the shining exception to that rule.
With that said, I'm leaning towards Obama (assuming he knocks off Hillary). Politics aside, having an African-American President in office would really show the rest of the world how progressive we are as a nation. And right now, we need whatever we can get to get rid of the bad taste in everyone's mouth

Underground City in Amsterdam
Unlike the underground cities Saddam supposedly had, Amsterdam is really gonna do it.
AMSTERDAM is to go underground as overcrowding and soaring land prices force planners to look beneath the city's famous canals for future urban development.I still haven't made it to Europe yet, but when I do, Amsterdam will definitely have to be a stop. They aren't gonna start building this project till 2018 so it's gonna be a while before people can get high low. Get it!?
The canals will be drained to allow architects to build the underground city, which will reduce the pressures of overcrowding and slash the cost of a parking space
Dutch engineers have unveiled plans for a £7.4 billion underground city providing one million square feet of underground retail, leisure and parking facilities.
"There has always been a lack of space in the city, so what we are doing is building a city under the city by using a new construction technique, which will not interfere with street traffic," said Moshe Zwarts, a partner at the architects Zwarts & Jansma.

I'm back
I started this blog a couple months ago and then I got distracted with other things... like work. A famous person once said "F the liquor store game if you wanna know the truth!" I'll start making posts at least once a day from now on. I.... promise.
